Some of you guys may remember my friend Honesty from this post, well she’s back again!

I wanted to do a post focusing on business casual attire. So, before I even started school, a lot of YouTubers that I follow talked a lot about having certain pieces in your wardrobe. I saw a lot of stuff about this on Pinterest as well!

For Honesty’s outfit, she had to go to a Scholarship Gala, where the attire was pretty fancy. She wasn’t spending time in any office, hence the heels. I enjoyed this outfit and really wanted to share it and some tips too!

So, here are a few things that I have purchased as well as my friend Honesty!

So a great key thing to have are pants!! Honesty’s are super cute. The dressier pants I have are Old Navy’s Pixie Pants {see the picture below}

img_6869Pants to try: Pixie pants | Showpo Work Up pant | ASOS pants | Express pants |Forever 21 pants – on sale!

Honesty has a really cute blazer on which is from The Other Place in Athens. I definitely need to pick one up this summer! They’re some pretty cute ones out there!

Blazers to try: Boohoo blazer |H&M blazer | Lauren Conrad blazer

Blouses and button ups are also crucial to business/professional outfit.

Tops to try: Ralph Lauren top |H&M here and here

That’s all! I hope this helped some people, especially those who are starting college or in it now, you never know when an event or an interview will pop up!

So I live in these tees! I love them so much. They’re isn’t too much to this outfit, but I definitely live in this during the school year and the summer. These jeans are so worn in that I’m starting to get a hole in one of the knees, so jeans are definitely on my summer wishlist!

I also love this tote! I find that I gravitate towards larger bags with more room so I can tote around all of my stuff, but it’s nice to have a little wristlet or something that I can take out for quicker errands!

Now for the fun part, all about my major!! So as many of you know, I go to Ohio University and am majoring in Retail Merchandising and Product Development (RFPD for short) and am minoring in both Business Administration and Marketing. I also plan to work towards an International Business Certificate as well. I wanted to use this post to talk a little about what my major is and the classes I’ve taken so far.

RFPD

So basically retail merchandising is the business side of fashion. I’ve always loved fashion but never really the designing part of it, but I still wanted to be a part of the creativity that’s behind the fashion industry. So with my major there are literally a million different things you can do once you graduate: visual merchandising, buying, general/store manager, stylist, merchandise coordinator, blogger, the list goes on. This is such a positive because the possibilities are basically endless for me when it comes to careers and there are even more choices with my minors too!

At OU, you take tons of rfpd classes, consumer science classes and anything else that has to do with the retail world and then later on in the curriculum retail majors are supposed to do an internship, but I also kind of want to do one next summer as well, just for more experience.

Business Minor

I just wanted to add a business minor to make myself more well rounded for job opportunities and future career endeavors. I also figured that since my major focuses on the business side of fashion, that I would get more business experience and classes under my belt.

Marketing Minor

A long time ago, when I was originally trying to figure out what I wanted to do, I was looking at marketing as a major. Marketing still kind of interests me because it’s kind of it’s own world. There’s so much to learn, and again, it makes me more well rounded when it comes to jobs.

International Business Certificate

My dad use to and still kind off travels a lot for work; he’s been to Germany and India, twice, and that’s just outside of the country. I love to travel and was lucky enough to travel a lot when I was younger, so seeing him to get to explore the world seems like so much fun. Completing this certificate will be a great experience to have under my belt and an additional achievement and it also means I get to study abroad! It also would give me an upper hand if I was to ever do business outside of the US.

Thanks for reading friends!! Until next time!

I think being involved with campus activities, clubs and organizations can make or break your college experience. I know of people at other schools who aren’t really involved in clubs or orgs and are not having the best college experience possible. It’s important to get out and do something you love and are passionate about or learn something new.

Fashion Associates

Sooo first off, I’d like to say that I am officially a member of the Executive Board for FA!! It’s so cool to be a part of the bigger picture of a club. So FA is a student run fashion club, most members are retail majors or minors, but it’s open to everyone. Each year FA takes a networking trip and hosts a fashion shower during Mom’s Weekend. Read about my Mom’s Weekend festivities hereThis year we went to Philly and visited Urban Outfitters Headquarters and that was one of the coolest things I have ever done. Black Student Cultural Programming Board

BSCPB

I love BSCPB! This org puts on the big multi-cultural events on campus. I have met soo many great people, especially other black people. I have learned professionalism and how to balance the different moving parts in my life better (well kind of, seeing as though I missed Wednesday’s post 🙁 )

I am only a part of the BSCPB’s general body, but this past year I was on the Special Events Committee. I helped with decorations and some of the final details of set-up for the Blackburn-Spencer Scholarship Pageant, those pictures are above. I just ended up wearing my junior year prom dress.

OU Alpha Phi Alpha Phi Chapter probate 2016

So the purpose behind the two pictures above is to see and do something you’ve never done before. Akt Like A Nupe was really big for me because I NEVER dance, let alone in front of people. And before college, I had never gone to a greek probate, and now I won’t miss one! The emotion that is in that room when new members are reviled is something I can’t begin to describe. I went to a Kappa probate last weekend and may or may not have shed a tear! So go see something new and go do something new.

Other + Future Involvement

Sororities – I definitely am interested in being a part of one. I think it’s a great bond to be able to have with other women for years to come. It’s a great way to build lasting relationships and to network as well. I think it’s great to see my dad still hanging out with his brothers to this day! Right now it’s a great motivation to me for me to continue to stay in good academic standing.

Honor Society – I would love to be apart of an honor society, in particular Phi Upsilon Omicron, which is an honor society specifically for human and consumer science majors.  I have to wait a bit, because I need a total of 36 credit hours completed, but it’s on my list!

Studying Abroad – Many people who have studied abroad countless times have expressed to do it whenever the opportunity is offered. I love to travel and it would be amazing to be able to see the world sooner rather than later. Plus I am trying to earn an International Business Certificate which I’m pretty sure includes going abroad for a few weeks.

Campus Reps – I recently applied to be a campus rep for a retail company. It was kind of random but I think it would be a great experience and something fun to add to my resume!

If you made it to the end, congrats! And thanks for reading. The point of all of this is to get off your butt and get involved, you won’t regret it. I have met so many great people from these different experiences.

Hey guys! Today’s post is about the most relatable tee ever. During Mom’s Weekend my family and I wandered around my college’s building, McKraken. The lighting is bomb so I took some pics! I want to do a post later on focusing on my major and the many things I’m trying to accomplish during these four years!

So, my shirt is from Old Navy (of course) and it’s super comfy. I have another one as well; they’re the relaxed tees and there’s like a million different styles, prints and designs to choose from. If you guys read this post, then you would know that the zipper broke on these jeans on the day I took these pics. I updated you guys on Instagram on my new pair. I love them! I wore them out on Saturday and I’m obsessed. They’ll be in a post later on!

Thanks for reading!!

So this past weekend was Mom’s Weekend at OU. My whole family came down and it was so much fun. My mom and dad skipped work on Friday and my sister was on spring break and they came down that day! We did a little shopping and had dinner!

Saturday is when all the festivities took place. So, my fashion club, Fashion Associates produces a fashion show every year for Mom’s Weekend. This year was an Alice and Wonderland, Mad Hatter theme. By the way, I’m planning on doing a whole post on getting involved that’ll be up next week! I’ll talk more about FA then.

IMG_1718

It ended up being a great show and my sister even walked in it! Model’s wore clothing from boutiques and stores around Athens as well as a store from Cincinnati!

How cute was our snapchat filter?!

My other org, BSCPB, the Black Student Cultural Programming Board also had a Mom Expo. going on. There was food, free massages, henna tattoos, and lot’s of dancing. I had to sneak out from hair and makeup to make sure I got my mom a massage appointment!

My mom and dad wandered around campus doing different activities and shopping before the fashion show and expo!

IMG_1916

They even had a photobooth, there’s always one at OU events!

That’s all for today! Thanks for reading, and please, please, please like my Facebook Page (just click on the pic!!)

Have a fab weekend lovelies!
